www.toolfoundry.org (referred to as the “website” or “site”) is organized and hosted by Luminary Labs. www.toolfoundry.org, including the services provided through this website, are properties of Luminary Labs. Therefore, throughout this Privacy Policy the words “we,” “us,” “our,” and the “Organizer” refer to Luminary Labs.

Any individual or team that submits an application to Luminary Labs for the Tool Foundry accelerator (“the accelerator”) will collectively be referred to as “you,” “team,” “your,” “your team,” or “applicant,” throughout this Privacy Policy. All entry information and applications, including team and application details, shall be collectively referred to herein as the “applications” or each as an “application.”

The accelerator website is not directed at children, and Luminary Labs does not knowingly collect any information from individuals under the age of 13. Additionally, you must be 18 years of age or older to apply to the accelerator.

Information Collected
Luminary Labs may collect personal information about site visitors in order to conduct the accelerator. We will not collect personally identifiable information about you unless you choose to register for the accelerator or sign up for the Tool Foundry newsletter. We do not give, share, sell, or transfer any personally identifiable information to a third party.

You will be asked to provide personally identifiable information (such as your name, email address, phone number, and professional affiliations) when creating an application to the accelerator. To apply to the accelerator you will also be required to submit non-personally identifiable information including, but not limited to, the name of your tool, description of your tool, images representing your tool, and answers to specific questions posed on the application form. All submitted information is used only for the expressed purposes for which it is intended and is not made available to any third party.

If, during your visit, you only browse through the website, read pages, or download information, our website’s operating system will automatically record some general information about your visit. During your visit, web services will record information that may include but is not limited to:

  • The internet domain for your internet service (such as “example.com” or “example.net”)
  • The type of browser that you are using (such as “Chrome version X” or “Internet Explorer version X”)
  • The type of operating system that you are using (such as Macintosh, Unix, or Windows)
  • The date and time you visit our site, and your activity on the site
  • The address of the previous website you were visiting, if you arrived at our site via a link from another website

We use this information for statistical analysis, to help us make our site more useful to visitors. This tracking system does not record information about individuals.

Use of Information
Luminary Labs may use your personally identifiable information for the purposes of conducting the accelerator and communicating with you about Tool Foundry. Luminary Labs will not share with other external entities information submitted to or collected by Luminary Labs, except with the selection committee for the purposes of evaluating applications and selecting cohort teams. When the cohort candidates have been selected, Luminary Labs will share the name and professional affiliations of the cohort teams as disclosed by these teams in the application form. No other applicants’ personally identifiable information will be shared with the public.

Luminary Labs will not share with other external entities information submitted to or collected by Luminary Labs, except for with partners participating in the accelerator, and publicizing the cohort candidate teams. When the accelerator cohort candidate teams have been selected, Luminary Labs will have the right to share the cohort teams’ names, affiliations (such as school, organization, or company), cities, and states of residence with the public. No other participants’ personally identifiable information will be shared with the public.

Third-Party Sharing Resulting from Legal Processes
As required by law, Luminary Labs may share your information when legally compelled to do so. This may include sharing with government entities or third parties in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal processes. Luminary Labs may also disclose personally identifiable information in order to protect and defend our legal rights, or defend against legal claims that have been, or may be brought against us. Additionally, Luminary Labs may share this information in order to protect the rights, property, or safety of you or another person. In this instance, we may share your personally identifiable information with law enforcement or another entity we feel, in our judgment, may be able to protect you or the other person. Finally, should Luminary Labs reasonably feel than any activities are unlawful we will report these activities to law enforcement.

Security of Your Information
Luminary Labs takes appropriate measures to secure and protect the privacy of your information. All information will be housed on the secure servers of Luminary Labs’ data storage provider. These servers are protected with generally available security technologies, including firewalls and data encryption. However, as no method of storing data is completely secure, we cannot guarantee that your information will never be accessed or used in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy.

Cookies
Like many websites, our site uses “cookie” technology to collect the website activity data listed above.
